tutorial 1#: basic gif

P.S. This is how I make my gifs, there are many other ways to make them.

Programs needed: Hypercam (any screen recorder will do) and Photoshop CS5 (any version)

1. Open up Hypercam or your screen recorder and record the part/s you need.

2. Open Photoshop and go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers.. 
Find the video and press Load. A window should appear called ‘Import Video to Layers’.

3. Select the part you need.

4. Go to Image > Image Size and make the width 500px (you can make it what ever you’d like but this is just what I’m making).

5. Open the Animation bar (window > animation). This should bring up a bar at the bottom. Now we have to set the speed of the gif, select the first frame, then hold shift then click on the last frame, this should highlight all the frames. Now you can do this on any of the frames, there is a little arrow pointing down click that. Select a time, I usually put 0.1 or 0.2 but it’s up to you.

6. Now it’s time to edit/color your gif. This is pretty much up to you, there are many options to editing your gif such as adding psds, texts, watermarks, etc. But all I’ll be doing in this tutorial is just brightening the image (Brightness/Contrast) and adding a watermark.

7. All we have to do now is save the gif. Go to File > Save for Web & Devices..
Now this is where you must make sure that the gif is under 1MB. Play around with the settings until it is under 500k: You may want to delete some layers, or lower the amount of colors it is up to you. After you have made it under 1MB press save then upload it to Tumblr.
